At CurveSetter, we believe that high scorers who are fresh out of studying for USMLE Step 1 make the best instructors.
The importance of a strong Step 1 score could not be understated, especially for students from lesser-known institutions who wish to match into competitive programs such as dermatology, ENT, orthopedic surgery, ophthalmology, plastic surgery, and neurosurgery. Similarly, medical students who attend international medical schools can increase their odds of matching in the U.S. significantly with a strong performance on Step. With the upcoming changes to a P/F scoring system for Step 1 as early as Jan 2022, the window is closing in for many to leverage their hard work and demonstrate mastery of boards-tested medical knowledge. Meet our founder, Alex Aabedi who is ready to tackle Step 1 with you by providing one-on-one private tutoring over the web.
Meet your core instructors, Alex and Ryan, 267 scorers on Step 1.
Alex has been providing tutoring in both classroom and private settings for high stakes exams for years. He is experienced in study plan design, establishing connections across scientific disciplines, and analyzing practice questions and strategy.

The difference between matching and not matching into your preferred speciality is often correlated with Step 1 scores.
Large gaps between matched and not matched cohorts as a function of Step 1 implies more significant weights applied to the 3-digit score. Look for how this relationship is further stratified (or not) based on the type of institution you attended (U.S. M.D., D.O., and International, respectively).
